Independent financial analysts have studied the financial performance of the Best Companies to Work For beginning with those companies included in the book, "The 100 Best Companies to Work For in America" (by Robert Levering and Milton Moskowitz, 1984 and 1993), and on an ongoing basis to accompany each of the "100 Best Companies" lists with Fortune since their inception in 1998. Using various profitability indicators, this data illustrates the extent to which the publicly traded 100 Best Companies in America consistently outperform major stock indices over the ten year periods preceding the publication of the "100 Best" lists!

“The 100 Best Annually”(毎年リセットされるポートフォリオ）に関しては、1998年のフォーチュンベスト100社のうち、株式公開企業それぞれに投資し、1998年末に一旦清算し、その売却代金は1999年リストの株式公開企業それぞれに同額投資します。ポートフォリオの運用は年末まで行われ、売却代金は翌年の新しいリストの企業に投資されます。これを毎年繰り返した結果です。
一方買い持ちポートフォリオに関しては、同額（上記1998年開始時と同額）を1998年の100ベスト株式公開企業に投資し、保持し続けます。
